A recipe and shopping list management utility with a host of useful features for cooking enthusiasts.
Pros: This is an excellent tool that helps you to organize recipes, make shopping lists, manage meal plans, and more. Meal planning features allow you to do an overall nutrition analysis as well as allow you to estimate costs. Cost estimation is also possible through grocery cost management for the shopping lists. Nutrition data is available for more than 6210 items from the USDA database. It has an in-built customizable recipe rating system and recipes can be easily imported / exported to allow sharing with others. You can even download recipes from online sources. Similarly it allows you to create your own recipe website, where you can post your favorite recipes for others to view. Recipes can be categorized into many categories either through the system’s auto-categorization utility or by criteria that you decide.
Cons: At first look the interface looks quite good at first look, and the recipes are presented in a nice, logical fashion which makes it really easy to follow (ingredients and their respective amounts are shown separately from the actual preparation instructions). However, the problem with the interface is that there are too many small windows inside the larger main window. This makes it really distracting when actually following the recipe. What ought to have been done was to focus on the main recipe window and make others tabs or something else. The fact that the picture window is not embedded into the recipe window makes it even worse. There are at least four windows in view, fighting for your attention.
Overall: 4 stars. It is a fairly good tool and has some really attractive features. However, it suffers from a lack of thought applied behind interface design.
